The Castle Room
Infants 8 weeks through 12 months
Our Castle Room provides a whimsical yet nurturing environment for infants with beautiful art work created by Mozelle Spencer and Jordan Swain. The first year of life is a critical time for development. At Children’s Village, teachers and parents work together to ensure responsive care giving for each child.
Our infant room is licensed for 8 babies, with three teachers in our infant room throughout the day. Our ratio is just under 1:3, which is lower than the state ratio of 1:4. The room is divided into three separate areas: a quiet place to rest, a place to enjoy a meal and a place to play. There are a variety of toys and activities available to the babies, including pictures on the wall, soft toys, blocks with different textures, books, scarves and much more.
Learning in this classroom is at an individual pace – the teachers work with the babies at their development level to challenge and build new skills while also building confidence in the skills they have mastered. We also have a Nurse Consultant that comes in once a month to work with us and help answer any developmental questions that our teachers or the babies’ parents may have.
To help keep our babies safe and healthy, we ask everyone who enters the room to put on shoe covers to help keep dust from coming off their shoes into the carpet. This helps maintain healthier air for our babies while they enjoy floor play time. We also require each person entering the classroom to wash their hands before doing anything else in the room.
